Our start-up wellness site Dreamingreengirl.com was founded on November 18, 2013 to help young women and women of all ages look great and feel great by lowering their Body Burden*; avoiding toxins and chemicals found in popular foods, makeup, and body care brands.
At DiGG, we test and try top makeup, cosmetics, and beauty products and then review them for their safety. Although we adore your “good-for-you glamour, makeup and beauty products that are eco-friendly and cruelty-free,” we are deeply concerned that we cannot fully promote your company because of your use of Phenoxyethanol.
To all who are unfamiliar with this toxin, Phenoxyethanol is a preservative commonly used as a substitute for parabens. Makeup and body care companies use preservatives like parabens to protect their makeup and body care products from bacteria and fungal growth. While Phenoxyethanol is not the worst preservative, beauty products that contain it shouldn’t earn the title of “good-for-you glamour.”
Dreamingreengirl.com relies on many top databases such as Skin Deep at EWG.org which rates Phenoxyethanol as a level 4, a moderately dangerous toxin. Phenoxyethanol is an irritant and a contributor to organ toxicity.
Here is what the FDA says about it: “Phenoxyethanol is a preservative that is primarily used in cosmetics and medications. It also can depress the central nervous system and may cause vomiting and diarrhea.”
Our team at DiGG (Dreamingreengirl.com) promotes products which earn an EWG rating of 3 or under.
You are so close to topping our most favorite makeup, cosmetics, and beauty companies. However, until you can stop using Phenoxyethanol in your products, we can not recommend your products to our readers.
“Women Ingest 100 Chemicals Before Breakfast”.
Toxic chemicals build up in our systems and bury themselves deep into our cells. This is known as Bioaccumulation. Over time, these toxins inundate our bodies and create what we define as a Body Burden*.
Just how much can our bodies take? Our bodies are all different and react very differently to ingredients in makeup and body care products. While Phenoxyethanol may not cause immediate damaging effects in the body, it does contribute to the overall Body Burden* which may ultimately lead to sickness, disease, or even cancer.
Tarte: Will you consider taking Phenoxyethanol out of your products and join us on our mission to lighten the Body Burden* of young women and women of all ages across the globe?
Thank you Tarte & Co. and to our devoted followers for taking the time to read this important letter.
Michelle, and all of our Dreamers.
