We understand as women and young girls how important it is that our voice be heard and how important it is to be educated on certain issues in today’s world. Miss Representation affects us, as women, personally because it shows the demoralization of women. We hope to see a better future where this is no longer an issue.
WHAT is it about: A documentary that analyzes how women and girls have been mistreated in the media and the negative representation of women in cultural norms. It also touches upon women in leadership positions and political positions (or the lack their of) and issues of domestic violence.
For WHO: We feel that some of the scenes are a little unsuitable for our younger dreamingreengirls. So it is a great film for our mature audience, we think 17 and older is appropriate for this unrated film.
WHERE to check out more information: To check out more information about the movie you can go to their site. They have detailed information that includes resources, and actions to take. You can take pledges here as a way to be involved in this movement on a regular basis.
WHY to watch: Even though it talks about the misrepresentation of women, I know it got us inspired to change the world one small step at a time. Our first step is to “Roll out of Bed and Find Healthy Now.”
