This is a re-release of Part 3/3 of our beautiful interview with Kris Cameron, stage 4 cancer survivor. Kris is a study in the art of balance, and the lessons she shares with us are heart warming and life changing. Healthy living is a committed way of living, and I love that Kris breaks it down for us in a manageable way: food, fitness, inspiration…these are the focus areas when we commit to a healthy life. (we would add in non-toxic beauty products as well!) No promises that we can all glow as brightly as Kris, but it’s worth a shot. Dreamingreengirl aspires to help young women everywhere find their own path to healthy living. Kris gives us the inspiration to keep searching!
Q. How long have you been cancer free? What is your typical daily routine? Foods, exercise, stress relief? Any specific strategies that guide you through your day? How different are your days now compared to what they were before your cancer diagnosis?
HAHAHA! Ok, I might need to write a book to answer this question…
My bloodwork came back clean late September. My typical daily routine consists of eating mostly raw during the day, and cooked foods at night. I do one liquid day a week. We do a ton of super foods such as lemon/cayenne/turmeric shots, baking soda shots. I drink 9++ PH waters, I take probiotics 2-3x a day. I exercise DAILY! Exercise keeps my mind right. I meditate almost every day 30mins to an hour. I’m constantly researching foods, alternative medicines and therapies to stay healthy. Living healthy has become my religion. I keep inspirational books everywhere and when I start to feel down, I read.
My life now has so much peace and I’ve never been so happy. Cancer or facing death changes you but for the better, I didn’t realize just how much beauty surrounds us until I was forced to slow down and see it. We are all so plugged in these days with our iphones & ipads that we forget to take the time to live in the moment and just breathe. I surround myself with love.
Q. Do you ever have days of doubt or discouragement? Is it time consuming to practice raw, low-toxin living. be honest!!!
Days of doubt, OF COURSE! We all have days where it seems like the world is caving in. But then you take your dog for a walk and you meet someone that shares their story and you realize just how blessed you are.
One of my favorite quotes is “Stars Cannot Shine without Darkness.” It is so true. Without contrast we would not be able to enjoy the blessings. As I mentioned before… embrace the challenge. Because without that challenge where and who would you be today?
Q. Can you believe that you CONQUERED cancer? We are in awe of you!!!!! You are an inspiration to us for doing what you did and for being willing to share your story.
One day when I was still really sick and in bed, tumors coming through my skin, high fevers, etc… I was watching a show that Scotty had on and Robyn Robbins spoke after undergoing a bone marrow transplant and she said ‘We are not most remembered by what we have accomplished in life; We are most remembered by what we have overcome.”
I just knew in my heart that it was not my time. We each hold the power within ourselves to overcome any challenge you just have to feel it, taste it, breathe it, visualize and just make it happen. And that is why I want to share my story with others because if we truly believe in something then ANYTHING is possible. I am proof of that.
