Finding balance between medicine and exercise… is it possible?
There has been extensive research that shows that more than 40 chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity can be properly managed or even avoided with an exercise plan or a medicine and exercise plan combo. Unfortunately, the norm these days is to turn to a pill to make symptoms subside and for physicians to recommend antibiotics and pain killers rather then show you the door to the closest gym. Easy isn’t always the answer. Every year, a new drug is made in a lab, and humans and animals are essentially the guinea pigs to test them. Year after year, we see lawsuits fighting drug companies because of horrific side effects from the same drugs that we were advised by our trusted physicians to take.
Fortunately, there are many physicians that are encouraging exercise and prescribing exercise based programs. Find a doctor that supports this way of living. www.exerciseismedicine.org is a great website where they discuss alternative ways to staying healthy and taking a proactive approach to fitness. EXERCISE has been consistent with positive results and no side effects…as long as you are programming properly for your body’s needs and abilities. It’s your choice, but remember, it can’t hurt to try exercise. So why not? See how you feel? It’s a fact that it increases energy, prevents disease, promotes fighting disease, and increases endorphins which make you feel wonderful….with NO side effects, except stronger bones and maybe a faster metabolism 🙂 Rising healthcare costs are a part of this generation and has become a problematic part of our life. Unhealthy Americans are one explanation that contribute to this cause and this is something that we can prevent. At Dreamingreengirl, we choose a FITSPO (Fitness Inspiration) of the week. These are inspirational stories about real women who fight every day challenges to stay fit. Check out their stories to get motivated. If they can do it, so can you!
