Deodorants are an essential part of our daily routines. Realistically, it’s not like mascara or lipgloss where we can skip a day. Nobody wants to be known as Stinky! 🙁
Let’s fix this—Have you ever thought about making deodorant yourself? A great way to eliminate those toxic chemicals from your deodorant, is to make it yourself! It sounds nearly impossible, but we have not only 1, but 3 DIY Deodorants that are easy, inexpensive, and totally work!
**Note: These deodorants will NOT stop you from sweating. Since these deodorants are made without aluminum, your body will still sweat. Remember, sweating is healthy and it’s supposed to happen. It’s a way for your body to detox and release toxins from your body.
#1) Solid Deodorant:
This deodorant has great, beneficial ingredients that will leave you odorless all day long (phew). It’s really easy to make, with ingredients that you probably already have! We recommend you save this deodorant to use for when you wear your workout clothes because coconut oil may stain).
1/4 cup Arrow Root or Corn starch
1/4 cup Aluminum-Free Baking soda (Red Mill brand/ organic brands)
2 Tbsp Coconut oil
6 drops Essential oils (we used peppermint)
3 drops Vitamin E (opt)
– In a bowl, add both the corn starch & baking soda.
– Then add in the coconut oil, essential oils, and vitamin E (opt).
– Mix all the ingredients together.
– Once the ingredients are mixed together, pack it together and put it in a tin to store your deodorant.
The thought of making my own, homemade deodorant was crazy and bizarre to me. I literally thought to myself “why would anyone want to make their own?” ..well, now I can see why! By making this deodorant you’re totally eliminating all the harmful ingredients that will cause your body harm. This recipe is my favorite one to use. Not only is it super easy to make, but it really works! It feels like one you’d buy in a store- but better! I dare you to try and see for yourself 🙂
#2) Spray Deodorant:
If you’d prefer a spray deodorant, then this one’s for you. The alcohol kills the odor smell! Use a spray bottle to store this deodorant.
1 cup Everclear Alcohol (drinking alcohol)
10-20 drops Essential Oils
– Pour the alcohol in a spray bottle. Then add in the essential oils.
– Put the top on the sprayer and shake it, to mix up the ingredients.
– Use and be odor-free!
#3) Citrus Juice Deodorant
This deodorant is great if you’re in a hurry, traveling, or possibly forgot to put on deodorant (it happens!) Grab yourself some lemon or lime juice and you’re all set.
1 lemon or lime
– Cut the lemon/lime into 2 halves. Then juice it.
– Rub some of the juice onto your underarm.
– Then, pat it dry with a towel and you’re all set!
