Chia seeds are a very easy food to add into your diet and they host many benefits. Yes, these are the same seeds that were on those cute little Chia seed pet commercials (from way back in the 90’s).
Chia seeds are very high in Omega-3 oils, a vital fat for brain health, reducing inflammation, arthritis, heart disease, and more. Chia seeds are one of the highest Omega-3 foods. They have calcium, manganese, and phosphorus, are good for strong teeth and bones, loaded with fiber and protein, you could say this little seed does it all!
These seeds are slowly absorbed, keep you fuller longer (because they expand in size), reduce food cravings and control blood sugar (and your mood) and they are very easy to digest.
So what is the best way to eat these little things? My favorite ways are to add a tablespoon into your smoothie, adding on top of oatmeal or even making a chia pudding healthy dessert.
