Be a Breakfast Pro…tein
We all know that we should start our day off with breakfast. But, did you know the simple act of adding in protein could help you stay energized, feel full, and make you less likely to overeat later in the day?
Aim for 25-30 grams at your morning meal for that fullness factor.
Here are some tips to add protein to your morning meal:
Use milk or soy milk instead of water when making oatmeal.
Pair Greek yogurt with nuts, ground flax and fruit for a quick meal perfect for busy mornings.
Spread 2 tbsp of your favorite nut butter instead of butter on your bagel or toast.
Cottage cheese is an easy protein choice paired with fruit.
Cook up hard boiled eggs to pair with cereal or toast.
Purchase a high quality, organic protein powder to make a smoothie on the run or add to your pancake/waffle mix.
Top scrambled eggs with a slice of low fat cheese.
Make a breakfast burrito with eggs, black beans, salsa and low fat cheese.
Make overnight oatmeal by combining oats with milk and yogurt. Let it sit in the fridge overnight. Add your toppings like cinnamon, vanilla, nuts, and banana in the AM and you are good to go.
